How the portfolio at antmejia.com  is built, and how each feature was specified and planned.

What the site is

A personal portfolio for Anthony Mejia, a New York City based senior software engineer. It shows his work, craft and engineering principles so a visitor can decide quickly whether to hire or work with him, and then go deeper into any role or skill. The site is hand-built, and its own implementation is meant to be evidence of the craft it describes.

The stack

  • Framework: Next.js 15 (App Router), React 19, TypeScript in strict mode.
  • Styling: vanilla-extract for theme tokens and global styles, with sprinkles for responsive utilities.
  • Motion: framer-motion for component animation and Lenis for smooth scrolling.
  • Quality: ESLint 9, Prettier, Husky, commitlint, Vitest, Storybook with browser tests, and Renovate.
  • Hosting: Vercel, with a release flow driven by release-please.

Principles

These come from the product brief, PRODUCT.md, in the repository root.

  • Evidence over adjectives. The site uses only content its owner has written, and leaves marked room for more instead of inventing it.
  • Skimmable first, deep on demand. A recruiter gets the point in seconds, and an engineer can keep reading.
  • The site is part of the portfolio. Craft, performance and accessibility are visible features.
  • One system. Every page reuses the same tokens, type and motion language as the landing page.

Where to go next

  • Architecture: how the source is laid out and how a page is composed.
  • Content model: where roles, skills, education and the resume live, and how to change them.
  • Styling system: design tokens, sprinkles and the shared page shell.
  • Motion and transitions: the motion tokens, the transition model and the probe that guards it.
  • Quality gates: what runs on every pull request.
  • Release process: how a change reaches production, and how to roll back.
  • How it was built: the real design specs and implementation plans behind the features.

Components are documented separately in Storybook at storybook.antmejia.com . The source for this site is in the docs-site/ folder of the repository .
